December 11 to 15, 2023, Vegepolys Valley hosted its 3rd edition of Theme Week. This year's theme was: Innovative plant production and processing solutions for a successful environmental transition.
Diane d'Esquerre from OdysséeLab attended the conference. Urban cool islands: challenges and innovative solutions. You can watch the replay in the video below.
Climate change and its heat peaks are having an even greater impact on cities. Plants are one of the answers to the problem of urban heat islands. But plants have difficulty surviving these hot, dry periods. Water management and its scarcity during the summer is also a factor to be taken into account.
This conference was an opportunity to present ODISI: drainage and irrigation innovation. ODISI drains water during rainy periods that can be connected to a water tank. Then the water can be reused throught the integrated drip irrigation system during dry periods to ensure the survival of plants. It can be used for green roofs, gardens, landscaping, etc.
